Biomarkers:

  1. Free Thyroxine (T4):

    • Description: T4 is a hormone produced by the thyroid gland that helps regulate metabolism.
    • Importance: Monitoring T4 levels is crucial during menopause, as thyroid function can affect energy levels, weight management, and overall well-being.
  2. Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH):

    • Description: TSH is a hormone that regulates the production of thyroid hormones, including T4.
    • Importance: Changes in TSH levels can indicate thyroid dysfunction, which is common during menopause and can contribute to symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, and mood swings.
  3. Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH):

    • Description: FSH is a hormone that plays a key role in regulating the menstrual cycle and ovarian function.
    • Importance: Elevated FSH levels are a hallmark of menopause, indicating the decline in ovarian function and the transition out of reproductive years.
  4. Luteinizing Hormone (LH):

    • Description: LH works with FSH to regulate the menstrual cycle and ovulation.
    • Importance: Monitoring LH levels helps confirm the onset of menopause and provides insights into hormone fluctuations during this transition.
  5. Estradiol:

    • Description: Estradiol is the primary form of estrogen, essential for reproductive health and overall well-being.
    • Importance: Declining estradiol levels are a key indicator of menopause, contributing to symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and bone density loss.
